Step 2 - Subscribe on the next page! You will get 9 book recommendation lists connected to your favorites every week.
The email is in beta; soon, we will add the following:
Frequency Selection—You can change the frequency from weekly to every 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks.
Edit Your Favorites—This feature allows you to change your favorite books, authors, and genres.
Improved Accuracy—We are improving our topic/genre system this year.

Book series pages (99% done)
We got past our roadblock and will ship this feature soon. Then, it will take a few months for us to add all the data. I’ll share examples next month 😀.
Improved personalized book rec email (50% done)
This will allow subscribers to choose the frequency of the email and improve how it works on the backend. We are also going to gauge how difficult it would be to allow subscribers to adjust their favorites as well.
Bookshelves 2.0 (5% done)
We started working on the massive upgrade to our bookshelves. The additions will make it a lot more fun to browse science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction, and other genre sections, as well as age groups and topics (tropes, themes, and moods coming later in 2025).
Highlights from the build blog:
What am I reading?
I just finished...
All 3 of David McCloskey’s spy thrillers: Damascus Station, Moscow X, and The Seventh Floor. They were fantastic and some of the best thrillers I’ve read in the last 10 years. The ending of Seventh Floor was brutal.
I am reading...
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones—I don’t read much horror, but this sounded intriguing, so I decided to try something new. I am just getting to the juicy part.
Curious: The Desire to Know and Why Your Future Depends On It
(by Ian Leslie) - I am researching curiosity, as it is one of Shepherd's foundations and a key element I want to design for.
What have I been up to outside of Shepherd?
I took my son on a weekend bike adventure in Basque, Spain; we biked, ate some steak, and enjoyed the sunshine. He got a new bike with gears, so now he can do more hilly routes I pick out 😄.
Have a great week,
Thanks, Ben
