My 10 favorite book lists for November 2025...
Creating the indie book platform readers deserve.

š Bookshelf spotlight for November!
The best new epic fantasy books (from the last 3 years)
Benās 3 favorite reads of 2025ā¦
I love hearing what my friendās 3 favorite reads of the year are! So, every year, I ask everyone to share their 3 favorite reads of the year and make that easy to share, browse, and explore.
Iāll also have a new feature that lets you add a book you love and get matched with similar readers (coming in late December).

What are we working on over the next 4 weeks?
We are building a smarter, more personal reading app.
Think Goodreads, but rebuilt for readers who want a private space to track what they read, keep notes, and get truly personalized book recommendations (like Pandora or Spotify for books).
We are aiming to launch the first version in late January with a small group of testers. If you'd like to test the new app, please fill this out.
Right now, Iām working to nail down some of the features, such asā¦
Easy audiobook selection
I want to make sure it is super easy to log if you are listening to a book.

Easy welcome process (including imports)
Readers log their books slightly differently, so I want to make sure we support the big options. For myself, I log on monthly, just after I finish a book (I donāt track edition or reading session either).

Smart folders that sort your to-be-read pile by favorite authors, genres, moods, and more.
This is a big one, and I havenāt quite found the right UX approach yet. We are working on a different approach now and going to test it shortly. I want to make it really easy to see who your favorite authors are and use that to find books on your TBR (or in your favorite genres, or so on).

Highlights from the build blog:
What am I reading?
I just finished...
I, Robot Soldier by Joel R. Dennstedt - This was a nice little sci-fi read. It reminded me of a classic short novella by Asimov or Heinlein. It is from the perspective of a robot waking up from a global armageddon and finding a little girl whose prime directive is his mission now.
I am reading...
Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire - I was looking for something similar to Dresden (urban fantasy), and a lot of people recommended this series. Book one is great so far, and I am enjoying it.
The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams - Iāve been recommended this one several times within fantasy groups. The writing is beautiful, but the story pacing is very slow, and I am not sure this one is a match for my Book DNA. I am about 75% done and enjoying it, but only in small bursts. I am going to keep going and see what I think once it finishes. The world is amazing.
What have I been up to outside of Shepherd?
The fun of some dental surgery, Iām slowly recovering, but I look like a chipmunk. Otherwise, enjoying the cooler weather, the rain, and getting ready for the long winter.
I hope your fall is going well
Thanks, Ben
